Knots are used for knitting, weaving and fishing. They tie shoelaces and neckties. There are many different types of knots: diamond knots, bowline knots, reef knots and the figure of eight. They can fasten and tangle, tighten and loosen. A knot is also a measure the speed of wind. But most importantly, knots are used to bind things together and their purpose is to hold. The business of De Blinkerd aims to do just that: bind things together and hold them into place.

De Blinkerd is an editorial and curatorial haven for transdisciplinary visual art research and practice. It connects the different visual art disciplines, exploring and breaching their boundaries. De Blinkerd acts as a shelter for innovative research methods through creative practices such as letter writing, art editions, publications, and collection presentations.
